Asian Community Nursing Home 25th Annual Fundraiser a Success!

(Posted on behalf of Jan Guiliano, Vice President of Education)

Saturday evening I had the pleasure of attending the 25th Annual Fundraiser for Asian Community Nursing Home this past Saturday in Sacramento.   I’ve been to this event every year for the past 8 years and it continues to be a stellar event.  The food was fantastic and it was a great opportunity to connect with the community.  Over 500 family members, staff and community members were in attendance.   At this year’s event, ten dedicated employees who have worked at the nursing home for over twenty five years were honored and the new administrator, Melanie Henderson, was introduced.   The next twelve months will be special as Asian Community progresses toward its 25th years of service to the community.

Celebrating PEP Housing

Yesterday, Joanne Handy and I attended PEP Housing’s ceremony celebrating their 2011 MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing for Casa Grande Senior Apartments in Petaluma.  The award is a high honor, received only by a handful of top affordable housing communities nationwide, bestowed upon Casa Grande due to their green features, universal design and service enriched housing for seniors. They will receive $50,000 in unrestricted grant money to further their mission.   Aging Services of California presented a certificate of appreciation, along with presenters, David Glass, Mayor of Petaluma, and a representative of Assembly member Jared Huffman’s office honoring PEP Housing’s work. PEP Housing will also be recognized at the LeadingAge Annual Conference, October 16 -19 in Washington, DC.
